1- I am extremely proud to be your teacher. It is a privilege and honor that I hold in the highest regard.
2- There are days when I will push you, even if you do not want to be pushed. These times are when I'm simply trying to convey that I believe in you, even if you do not want to believe in yourself. You deserve the opportunity to grow and feel a sense of fulfillment every day. It is my job to facilitate this growth/fulfillment. 3- I will ALWAYS tell you what you need to hear, which is not always what you want to hear. 4- I do not care how good of a musician you are. I care how good of a person you are. Sure, if you become the next Beethoven, I am sure I will put that on my resume and happily take a little credit! But above all things, I hope that through music you become: -a person of integrity -a person of passion -a person of standards -a person who is caring, and puts others first. 5- You Are Not Your G.P.A. (If anything, you are who you are OR who you know! Joking...sort of...) Stop worrying about grades. I don't mean that the way it sounds. Of course you should care about your grades; however, please know that your G.P.A. does not define you as an academic, does not act as a predicator for your success or happiness, or determine your worth in the world or to those around you! 6- You Are Responsible For Your Own Education. my job is to provide opportunities and give you tools to accept challenges with confidence, and to make choices with an open-mind and a driving heart. Ultimately, it is up to you to get what you want from your educational experience. 7- When I Am Teaching You, You Are Teaching Me 8- I Do Not Know All Of The Answers. ...and I promise I will not pretend I do just because I happen to be an educator. 9-We All Need Music! We, as humans, are built for music. 10- What Is Good Enough Today, Is Not Good Enough For Tomorrow Always be striving to better yourself, and those around you. `
